Buy-Fix-Sell Properties wanted to remind our local Clients in Silicon Valley that the FREE California Home, Garden and Gourmet Show at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds is scheduled for this coming week. Compliments of COMCAST, it is free as is the parking and it provides you with an excellent place to start your research into home improvement and green living. We blogged yesterday about the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this coming week, but lets face it, this local show is and much easier to fit into your schedule.

Not only are they offering a chance to win a $150,000 home remodel, the Home, Garden and Gourmet show is sweetening the pot and the anticipation with a $8,500 bathroom remodel. Let’s face it that is just too good of a deal to pass by, free attendance and free parking, great information and a chance to win two prizes! We attend these shows on a regular basis to keep current on the industry innovations and offerings especially as they relate to green renovation products and services and will be there to walk the exhibit gather information and talk to the experts. As veterans of these shows we can offer this advice, know what you are looking for and head straight there. It is easy to get sidetracked and exhausted.

If you are free this weekend and starting your home remodeling research please check out information on the show and parking at www.worldclassshows.com, we will be there and hope to see you there as well. Our mission and motto is that information is the only sound basis and foundation for your remodel plan. Good Luck in the coming New Year.

The January 2010 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is set to unveil the Whirlpool, Direct Energy home energy system.

Now that the holidays are over the real fun begins for those of us at Buy-Fix-Sell Properties. We are keenly interested in anything and everything about Green Technology, Energy Efficiency and Renovations that produce not only a functional and beautiful property, but a non-toxic, green and sustainable environment for our Clients and their families. January holds the greatest joy and excitement of the year for us as it is when the fusion of High and Green Technology – The Consumer Electronics Show is held and when we in the trades get a glimpse of the “State of the Art” in products and materials being developed for this market. For several years this show has been yet another reason for people in the building industry to flock to Las Vegas to get a look at the future of “Green Tech”.

The consumer market for energy efficient, green and sustainable products grows every year. From reducing energy cost to addressing our carbon footprint, there is a growing and well informed market for anything that supports a green lifestyle. Home Depot has recognized the market and other retail establishments are following suit.

Many of us in the trades depend on this and other trade shows to highlight new innovations and products that we can research and introduce to our customers whether it be for new construction or a remodel/renovation of a foreclosure. We do so to not only educate ourselves on the current innovations but to hopefully integrate some of them into our Clients renovation plans. One such innovation which caught our eye is a cooperative venture which includes “… network-aware appliances from Whirlpool, a two-way thermostat from Lennox, and a touch-screen central control point made by OpenPeak we thought we should share the link to a larger CES.CNET.COM post.

Home Depot ahead of Lowes in consumer Eco Friendly building products and information

Home Depot Leads the Big Box Stores in the Eco-Wise, Non Toxic Renovation Movement.

We at Buy-Fix-Sell Properties have made it our mission for over 10 years to introduce our clients to the larger picture of a home renovation. Although not always popular we have sought to give our clients information on toxicity, internal air quality, eco-friendly, sustainable and green options to consider before they make their plans and finalize their budgets to renovate. Our task has not always been met with enthusiasm by the clients themselves. Understandably they start out being only interested in the bottom line – how much will the renovation cost?

BFS believes that for our Clients to know before they buy how much they will save on energy and how much less toxic their internal air quality and environment will be by making simple informed decisions, is our responsibility and we take it seriously. Our houses are more than just properties, they should and can be environments where we are able to nurture our children and families keep them safe and allow them to live healthy lives.

Thankfully the Green, Eco-Friendly, Sustainable and Non Toxic market niches have expanded so much that the big box stores, most notably Home Depot have decided to serve this growing consumer niche and we want to recognize and applaud their effort. As renovation project managers any resource we can utilize to introduce our clients to a full range of material options to choose from for their renovation projects whether it be an investor interested in turning a challenged foreclosure into a whole house flip, or a home owner renovating a few rooms in their house to become more energy efficient – information is key!

As renovation project mangers we applaud Home Depot on their forward thinking and ask Lowes to jump on the train, because it is leaving the station with a whole new generation of home owners and investors who want and demand the materials and tools to make informed decisions on issues of the true cost of a renovation project most notably pay back, energy efficiency, toxicity levels of paints and other commonly used small and large household renovation materials and products.
